Lifecare has developed a small and implantable glucose sensor monitoring glucose-induced changes in an osmotic pressure chamber for continuous glucose monitoring. The pressure changes are induced by changes in the interstitial fluid glucose concentrations in the subcutaneous tissue. The sensor, called Sencell, will be at the size of a grain of rice. It will be injected under the skin and has a lifetime of at least 6 months. Sencell is suitable for identifying and monitoring the occurrence of a wide range of analytes and molecules in the human body and in pets.
